MarchamCentre is the name for the new community facilitiies which are planned for the Anson Field in Marcham. It will include a village hall, a Multi-Use Games and Tennis Area (MUGA), a redesigned football pitch and cricket pitch, and a new junior football pitch. The facilities have been 3 years in the planning and are jointly funded by the Anson Trust, Marcham Parish Council and generous donations by local landowners. The project received outline planning permission in September 2016, and detailed planning permission in November 2017.
Work started in April 2018 with a substantial archaeological dig which found some interesting iron age remains. The dig has been completed, and we hope to start the ground works in August 2018, with a view to finishing in the autumn of 2019.
Once the building is complete, the whole site will be managed by the Marcham Community Group which is a charity that is democratically controlled by the local community. MCG will set up three sub-committees to run the facilities one for the village hall, one for the playing fields and MUGA and a third committee to manage the finances.
